Virginia vs. FSU baseball final score, results: Seminoles' Jaime Ferrer plays hero with two home runs in College World Series | Sporting News (2024)

Florida State's run at the College World Series is not over yet.

The Seminoles defeated ACC rival Virginia, 7-3 in a win-or-go-home game in Omaha on Sunday.

Florida State's bats got hot in the fifth inning, powered by outfielder Jaime Ferrer's second home run of the day. Ferrer had a solo shot in the fourth inning, then launched a three-run bomb the following frame to give the Seminoles a 6-0 lead they wouldn't surrender.

The Cavaliers tacked on three runs late but couldn't overcome six scoreless innings to start the game. Florida State starting pitcher Carson Dorsey threw a gem for a win, going seven innings with only two earned runs and seven strikeouts.

Now, the Seminoles will await the loser of No. 1 Tennessee vs. No. 4 North Carolina for their next matchup.
