Weeknight dinner doesn’t get much easier than throwing together an easy tuna noodle casserole. This quick and classic recipe is tasty and versatile so it’s a total win in my book.

Tasty meals from my childhood often make an appearance on my own dinner table, as is the case with this yummy tuna noodle casserole easy and quick, just the way I remember.

Having dinner together as a family is a big deal to me. We only get a few years together and they seem to be going faster each year.

Like most parents, I don’t have tons of time to cook dinner, but I do what I can. Another favorite is my mom’s classic lasagna with cottage cheese and you don’t even need to boil the noodles for that one!

Tuna Casserole Ingredients

The thing I love about tuna noodle casserole is how versatile it is. This is a really simple recipe but you could add cheese, different vegetables or even use chicken instead of tuna fish.

This would be so good with rotisserie chicken for a delicious chicken noodle casserole! I’m just saying, feel free to get creative.

For this one, I used two kinds of cream of mushroom soup, tuna, egg noodles, milk, peas, butter and breadcrumbs.

Here’s what you need to buy:

  • 2Large Cans Tuna9oz each
  • 1Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1Can Cream of Mushroom Soup with Garlic
  • 1CupMilk
  • 2CupsFrozen Peas
  • 4CupsEgg Noodles
  • 4TbspBread Crumbs
  • 2TbspMelted Butter

Using canned tuna is such a timesaver. You can also make tuna cakes with it for another easy meal.

Variations

If you like a cheesy casserole, add cheddar cheese or even parmesan cheese if you like. Or stir in some sour cream or cream cheese before baking.

Try using potato chips instead of breadcrumbs for a vintage taste you may remember from childhood!

How to Make Tuna Noodle Casserole

This really couldn’t be easier.

You’ll want to cook the egg noodles first and preheat the oven.

Then, in a large bowl mix together most of the casserole recipe ingredients including the cooked noodles, soups, drained canned tuna, milk, and peas.

Scoop the mixture into a casserole dish and put it in the oven.

Melt butter and mix it with the bread crumbs to create a topping. Out of bread crumbs? A potato chip topping is also popular.

After the tuna casserole bakes for about 20 minutes, sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture on top and brown it in the oven for a few more minutes until the bread crumbs are golden brown.

Optional: Add some cheddar cheese before topping the casserole with the bread crumbs for even more flavor.

Serve and enjoy!

I love making this easy tuna casserole in the oven but you could definitely make it in the Instant Pot or even the slow cooker if you prefer.

Can You Freeze Tuna Casserole?

Yes! This simple tuna noodle casserole is a great meal to make ahead or freeze for later.

Feel free to make extra tuna casserole and freeze it for another day or use the leftovers for weekday lunches or whenever you want some comfort food.
