NBA 2K24 has a new Takeover system on new gen (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) where you can decide mid-game what attributes you want to boost whether it’s shooting, finishing, playmaking, defense/rebounding or physicals (things like strength, speed, etc). In the past, you would determine your Takeover options in the MyPlayer Builder, allowing you to pick two based on the attributes of your MP.

As with past Takeover systems in NBA 2K, you’ll be able to fill up two meters, and if you do so, you’ll be able to select two Takeovers of your choice. In NBA 2K24, Mamba Mentality returns and once you unlock this in The City, you’ll be able get boost on all of your attributes when you activate Takeover. Pretty cool.
However, there are a few steps you need to take in order to unleash fury on the court with Mamba Mentality. These steps are actually fairly easy, but you’ll need to have a little patience as well. Both of these require you to work on your game so it doesn’t hurt to get some extra shots up, not to mention that you’ll earn badge points as well (plus you need to do your first three Key Games to unlock this).
Here are the quests you need to do to unlock Mamba Mentality for your MyPlayer in NBA 2K24.
Complete the Decelerator quest at Brickley’s Gym
- Head to Brickley’s Gym
- Complete 3v3 Scrimmage
- Complete 5v5 Scrimmage
- Complete the Minimizer quest at The Art of Shooting Facility
Head to The Art of Shooting Facility
- Earn 3 Stars (only once)
Complete the Second Chance quest at Brickley’s Gym
- Head to Brickley’s Gym
- Get a combination of 50 between points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals during a scrimmage
Just keep in mind that Brickley’s Gym is only available once per day, and The Art of Shooting Facility’s Hot Zones mini-game is only available once per week (you can still go in and shoot around if you wish).
