You may want to donate furniture on Cape Cod for a few reasons. Perhaps you’re moving to a smaller place and want to unload some excess furniture. You may be planning a remodel and need to clear space for your new items.

You may be clearing out a basem*nt or attic and no longer have the storage space for your old belongings. These are all valid reasons for donating furniture. The good news is plenty of excellent charities, community organizations, and used furniture stores on Cape Cod MA will gladly accept your unwanted cargo.

When you donate used furniture, you not only free up your own space, but you also get the satisfaction of knowing your old items have found a new home. Plus, many organizations offer furniture donations with free pickup, so you never even have to leave your home.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization specializing in building affordable homes for low-income families. They offer a range of social programs and operate home improvement stores and donation centers called ReStores. The Habitat for Humanity in Yarmouth accepts a wide range of gently used items, including furniture, homewares, and building materials.

The Habitat for Humanity Restore will take upholstered furniture, appliances, and wooden furniture. That includes chairs, couches, refrigerators, washing machines, tables, dining room sets, china cabinets and dressers. However, items must be in excellent condition, with no stains or damage, and appliances must be under ten years old. They’ll also accept building materials, flooring, cabinets, and artwork along with furniture. ReStore does not take mattresses, box springs, baby furniture, sofa beds, televisions, or computers.

You can stop by their donation center in Yarmouth any time on Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm to donate furniture. However, they are also one organization that picks up used furniture in Cape Cod. You can fill out their online form to schedule pickup, and a representative will contact you ASAP. All donations are tax-deductible, and they will provide you with a receipt after you drop off your items.

Salvation Army – Hyannis Corp Community Center

The Salvation Army is a large international charity associated with the Christian Church that has been in existence for over 100 years. It’s one of the largest charities in Massachusetts, and its mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through social programs and community initiatives. They operate thrift stores across the country that rely on donations and use the proceeds to fund their charitable endeavors.

There is a Salvation Army Thrift Store in West Hyannis. They will accept a wide range of unbroken furniture, including beds, chairs, coffee tables, desks, end tables, dining room furniture, mattresses, and sofas. They will also accept clothing, household goods, electronics, and furniture. However, they will not accept gas appliances or those with mechanical difficulties, televisions that are over five years old, built-in appliances, or kerosene/gas heaters.

You can stop by the Donation Center Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm to drop off your items in person. The Salvation Army is also one of the charitable organizations that will pick up donations on Cape Cod. You can schedule a large furniture donation pickup online through their website.

Hyannis Goodwill

Goodwill is another large international charity that accepts furniture donations. Their central mission is to provide job training and placement, resume writing, and other community services to those with barriers to employment. However, they fund many of their initiatives by selling clothes, furniture, and home goods at their many thrift stores.

There is a Goodwill on Cape Cod, MA on Corporation Street in Hyannis. They accept donations of gently used furniture as long as it is in good, sellable condition. Goodwill stores in Massachusetts will not accept large furniture. But they will take small home furnishings such as end tables, ottomans, coffee pots, alarm clocks, toaster ovens, antiques, vases, lamps, and home electronics such as computers, printers, and stereos. Goodwill does not accept larger items such as couches, mattresses, exercise equipment, baby furniture, furniture, or gas-powered camping equipment.

They also have a partnership with Dell Computers called Reconnect that allows you to donate old computers free of charge. They wipe all your personal data and dispose of the computer in a responsible and environmentally friendly way.

All Goodwill donations are tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt from the attendant when you drop off your items. The Family Pantry of Cape Cod is a non-denominational charity dedicated to supporting families in need. They offer various community services, including a food bank and thrift store, where they accept donations throughout the year.

They will take old clothing, housewares, non-perishable food, artwork, lamps, kitchenware, jewelry, and non-upholstered furniture. Examples of furniture and items they will not take include:

All donations must be approved by calling (508) 432-0636. Once your request is accepted, you can bring the items you wish to give away to the Family Pantry warehouse on Queen Anne Road in Harwich. The donation drop-off hours are 8:00 am to 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesdays.

However, the hours can change depending on the season, so you should consider arranging a drop-off time when you call to have your items approved. Unfortunately, the Family Pantry is not a local charity with donation pick-up services at this time. When you arrive, an attendant will help you unload and inventory your items. Make sure to get a receipt afterward for tax purposes.
