The following student-athletes have been selected to The Washington Post’s 2023-24 All-Met team for boys’ indoor track:
Athlete of the Year
Quincy Wilson, So., Bullis
Wilson followed up a standout freshman year by cementing himself as one of the top track prospects in the nation. He capped his sophom*ore year by shattering a 20-year-old high school 400-meter record with a time of 45.76 seconds at New Balance nationals. He boasts the U.S. No. 1 time in the 500- and 600-meter races. He also ran top-five times in the 200 and 300 this season and helped Bullis break national records in the 4x400-meter relay and the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay.
First team
Colin Abrams, Jr., Bullis

Abrams earned his status as one of the top 800-meter runners in the nation during his first year at Bullis. He placed second at New Balance nationals with a time of 1 minute 49.71 seconds and played a key role in the Bulldogs’ record-breaking 4x400-meter relay.
Farraj Al-Amin, Jr., Archbishop Carroll
Al-Amin boasts one of the area’s best long jump leaps and 500-meter times. He came in first in the former and second in the latter in February’s D.C. State Athletic Association meet.
Henry Birge, So., Patriot
Birge broke the Virginia Class 6 record in the 1,000 with a time of 2:26.40 at February’s state meet.
Kai Bolme, Jr., Lake Braddock
Bolme recorded the area’s best shot put effort at New Balance nationals in Boston, earning fifth place with a throw of 60 feet 6.75 inches. He earned the Virginia Class 6 title in the event in February.

Ty’Heak Buie, Sr., Potomac (Va.)
Buie retained the area’s triple jump crown with more impressive performances this season, claiming the Virginia Class 6 title in the event before breaking the meet record at New Balance nationals with a leap of 49-10.75.
Trent Daniels, So., Gainesville
With the top 1,600 time in the area (4:09.34), Daniels broke the Virginia Class 6 record in the event and added another victory in the 3,200 at February’s state meet.
Drew Dillard, Sr., Archbishop Carroll
The reigning All-Met Athlete of the Year exhibited his all-around strength again this season, finishing first in the 55-meter hurdles and high jump at the D.C. state meet in February before running in Carroll’s 4x200 relay that claimed first at New Balance nationals in March.
Tsedeke Jakovics, Jr., Old Mill
Jakovics emerged as one of the area’s best middle- and long-distance runners this winter. He broke the Maryland 4A record in the 800 (1:54.82) and surpassed that with a third-place finish at Nike indoor nationals in New York, running a personal-best 1:52.44.

Ashton McCullers, Sr., DeMatha
McCullers recorded an area-best mark in the pole vault, clearing 15 feet at the JAMBAR Coaches Hall of Fame Invitational in December.
Jake Odey-Jordan, So., Archbishop Carroll
Odey-Jordan raced to a U.S. No. 1 time on the biggest stage at New Balance nationals, winning the 200 sprint in 20.66 seconds. He also boasts the area’s joint-quickest 55-meter time this season (6.34 seconds).
Nicholas Spikes, Sr., Paint Branch
Spikes made history in one of the last indoor performances of his senior year, breaking the Maryland state record across all classifications in the 300 with a 34.09-second sprint to a round of applause at February’s state meet.
Nicholas Steed, Sr., Bishop McNamara
Steed ran some of the top times in the area across a variety of events between the 300 and 800 races. He recorded the U.S. No. 5 time in the 500 in January at the VA Showcase.

Anthony Waterman, Sr., DeMatha
The standout senior held one of the top five times in the country in the 55-meter hurdles for most of the season (7.30 seconds) and placed sixth in the 60 hurdles at New Balance nationals in March.
Coach of the Year
Joe Lee, Bullis
Lee has built Bullis into a national powerhouse since taking over as coach in 2013. Under his guidance this winter, Bullis broke national records in the 4x400 relay, the 1,600 sprint medley relay and the 400. The Bulldogs boast six high school records between the boys’ and girls’ programs, all of which have been earned during Lee’s tenure.
